The Evolution of Work: Millennials, Technology, and the 21st Century
Limited Capacity seats available

The “workplace” is a relatively modern concept. Service industries have only truly grown over the past five decades; small-scale manufacturers are radically different than the factories of the late 19th century. With the dual rise of the Millennial Generation and the widespread adoption of technology, the workplace is going through a new adaptation. Join guest speaker, Morgan Smith, as he discusses these three key areas:
  1. Management techniques + interpersonal relationships.  How can managers best capitalize on their workers' talents?  How can they attract high-level workers?  How can they retain high-level workers?
  2. Use of technology and place.  Is it necessary to force a worker to sit at a desk 9-to-5 at a set workplace since they can do everything you need (besides face time, and even that's changing) in a coffee shop?  How can small businesses capitalize on the evolution of the workplace?
  3. Expectations and purpose of work / life.  How can companies offer the best "set-up" for young talent?  How can businesses best engage Millennials?  What are Millennials actually searching for in work?

Solutions Selling: Total Customer Service
Limited Capacity filling up

Jeff Binder and Dave Fellows founded Layer3 TV in Boston in 2013; in 2014 the company opened a new HQ in Denver. The company under Binder's leadership has raised more than $80 Million and was named a Forbes Hottest Startup in 2015 with a valuation of $385 Million.  Layer3 is trying to improve on the reputation many cable providers have gained as stodgy, hulking corporations trying to nickel-and-dime their customers.  It isn’t just rolling out red-carpet customer service in the form of fancy cars or a “white-glove” customer experience, such as your ability to text the company whenever you have questions or concerns.  It’s also trying to lure subscribers with the promise of next-gen technology embedded in its product.  All of this is aimed at raising the bar for cable service, making it so that consumers feel they’re actually getting what they pay for — or more - providing total customer service.
